5 Reasons You Should Take Probiotics Daily

This post is sponsored by Probulin®. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Taking a probiotic supplement daily is one of the best things you can do for your health and for your body. Probiotics contain special microorganisms also known as good bacteria, that will live in your gut (intestinal tract) where they will help to maintain a healthy, balanced environment.

It is true that you can also get your share of probiotics from foods such as yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut (yuck). I prefer to take probiotics over getting my share from food. One reason is that I know I am getting large amounts of many different beneficial bacteria. Another reason is because the prebiotic benefit you get from selected foods, though it is helpful because it feeds the bacteria you have, it lacks in providing a sufficient amount of active bacteria, that your body and mind needs. Another reason is also that if the food has been pasteurized or processed, you will get fewer probiotics from it.

Here are 5 reasons you should consider taking a probiotic:

Prevents antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

I’ve been there. You have to take an antibiotic and it feels like the end of the world literally. If you ever have to take an antibiotic for an infection there’s always the risk of developing diarrhea. Probiotic supplements can help prevent diarrhea associated with taking antibiotics.

Helps with symptoms of IBS

When I was pregnant I suffered from IBS-D. It was terrible. Probiotics can help ease the symptoms of IBS. Probiotics have beneficial bacteria that can help reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, including diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas, and abdominal pain.

Helps with your metabolism

Taking a probiotic is one of the ways to increase and regulate your metabolic function. This is because of the positive effect it has on your inactive thyroid cells. People who take a probiotic usually experience weight loss for this reason.

Helps with your immune system

Yes, taking probiotics will help your immune system. Strong gut flora increases immunity, stops yeast production, and produces healthy enzymes.

Helps with the health of your teeth

Your mouth is part of the digestive tract believe it or not. Your mouth is where digestion begins, so aiding the bacteria health in the mouth via the gut will help digestion and will also help to prevent oral diseases like gingivitis.

I take probiotics occasionally. I like yogurt and saurkraut ( just pass me yours. Lol!). I’ve known about them for some years now. I believe I notice a difference when I take them. When I receive samples of gummy ones for the kids they like them. Hubby has taken them also. It’s just another way to take care of your overall health.

I don’t take probiotics daily, I actually had never heard of them before I took my trip to Cuba last year. They were recommended to take the since some people were have IBS. I took them while there but since have stopped taking them, maybe I will start back as they have lots of benefits.

I have a friend who spoke with me on a panel last year and she is a doctor who has been researching the health benefits of probiotics. After learning more about her research I agree that gut-health is critically important for everyone.

I normally only take probiotics when I am prescribed an antibiotic, but maybe I should consider taking them on a consistent basis.

I’ve taken probiotics on and off. I need to be more consistent with it because I know the benefits.
