Couples Guide To A Weekend In Denver

For our 5 year wedding anniversary we decided to go somewhere that we have never been before. Denver has been on our list for a while. We are both mountain lovers and we love pretty scenery and what better place to enjoy art and scenery than in Denver!?? I mean in just one weekend I am in awe of this amazing city. We will definetly be back! Warning… one trip will make you want to go back real soon!

We explored all over the city! Denver’s Downtown area has tons of bars, rooftop bars, organic restaurants, and art galleries and museums pretty much something for everyone.

I was surprised to see so many bikes and scooters! In Denver, they are big on bike sharing programs, art, farmers markets and so much more! It was a super quick flight from Chicago and it was the perfect weekend getaway!

Where To Stay

You have a ton of choices and areas to stay when it comes to Denver. We chose to stay in an AirBnb the Rhino Arts District (River North Arts District) We love staying at AirBnb’s when we travel so that we get the full experience like we are at home lol.

There are a ton of hotels in the area if you prefer hotels too. Where you stay in Denver depends on why and what you will be doing in the city. You can stay in the downtown area, or stay at a historic and unique hotel. Check out Visit Denver for some great hotel options.

Things To Do

When it comes to things to do in Denver there is definitely no shortage of a good time! Before our trip I researched what Denver had to offer and pretty much planned out each day so that we were able to maximize our stay in Denver.

Explore the amazing street art

Denver is an amazing place for creatives! I was in awe of all of the art in the area. The Rhino Arts District is the place to be if you are into street art. Denver’s streets are so colorful thanks to local street artists. If you wander the streets you will find eye-catching murals painted everywhere from alleys and underpasses to the outsides of businesses.

Take a Hike at Red Rock Amphitheater

The views are simply breathtaking! If you love the scenery and the mountain view then this spot is for you! Red Rock is a rock structure near located in Morrison, Co which is only about 10 miles west of Denver. It took us about 20 minutes to get there from where stayed. There are also concerts there in the summertime. The space is beautiful to get your daily workout in, or even do some yoga! Its a great place to take the kids as well! The amphitheater sits at 6,450 feet (1,970 m) above sea level, and the surrounding Red Rocks Park covers 868 acres (37,800,000 sq ft; 3,510,000 m2).

Go To The Money Museum

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has an amazing Money Museum that is totally FREE and fun to visit! The Money Museum offers an opportunity to learn about the Federal Reserve Bank. Your Photo ID is required for visitors 18 and older to enter. Learning about all the money over the years was super fun. Also, on your way out, don’t forget to grab your bag of shredded money!! Yep you get free MONEY on your way out! Great for all ages!

Stroll The 16th Street Mall

Ready to do a little shopping? The 16th street mall offers some of Denver’s best people watching, LOL! No, really it does, so if that’s your thing totally hit up this mall. There are a total of 42 outdoor cafés along the mall which makes the 16th street mall the perfect place to grab something to eat or even have a drink. The Denver Pavilions, is located near the south end of the mall. The Denver Pavilions is a shopping and dining complex with 12 movie theaters and more than two dozen shops and restaurants! This spot is a must see! They also have the best view of Denver! A Instagram worthy location!

Visit Larimer Square

We went to dinner in Larimer Square at Ocean Prime Denver. Larimer Square is known as Denver’s Oldest and most historic block! With tons of shops, bars, tons of nightlife activities, wellness and beauty services. You will find everything you need in Larimer Square!

Chill and grab drinks and food at Finns Manor

Finn’s Manor is a cocktail bar and food truck pod located in the heart of the RiNo district where we stayed. It features so much! Food trucks galore plus tons of beer and drinks!! It’s a great place to go for a night on the town. The atmosphere was amazing and super chill! Definitely a great date night spot! 16 rotating taps and over 800 spirits.
