Conquering My Fear Of Heights! Visiting The Skydeck Chicago

This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity of visiting the Skydeck Chicago during St. Patrick’s Day weekend with my family for our family fun day. If you are familiar with Chicago, then you may know that it is home to one of the tallest buildings in the Western Hemisphere. The Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower).

The Willis Tower stands 1,353 feet in the air with an attraction known as the Skydeck which is a glass ledge known as the LEDGE. The Ledge’s glass boxes extend out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck. It is an amazing family friendly attraction for all ages! There are more than 1.7 million visitors to this attraction every year. It is a pretty big deal.

This was my second time visiting the Skydeck, the first time I chickened out and didn’t go out on the ledge. This time was different! I conquered my fears and stepped out on the ledge. I even sat on the FLOOR of the ledge. That is a HUGE accomplishment for me. The Skydeck offers one of a kind views of Chicago 103 stories up that you can only experience from the Skydeck. If you are visiting Chicago any time soon this is a must see attraction. The views are really breathtaking!

I used to be really afraid of heights. But over time, I began to realize that there was nothing for me to be afraid of. My daughter actually helped me conquer this fear. She was not afraid at all to go out on the ledge. She didn’t even think twice about it. This showed me that fear is learned, she didn’t even know to be scared.

Courage does not mean you do not get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.

So if you are headed to Chicago anytime soon, make sure you checkout the Willis Tower and the Skydeck! It is a must see attraction!

Are you afraid of heights? How do you conquer your fears?

I’m so glad you conquered your fear. My method to conquering my fear has been to face them head on. I so need to visit this attraction in Chicago. I’m adding it to my bucket list.
