Thank you so much for your blog. It’s really inspirational. I read your blog on CN about being a long-term transitioner. I’ve been transitioning since April of 2011 and it seems like it’s been forever lol. But I refuse to give into the creamy crack! Glad to know I’m not the only one that has to go through the long transitioning process. God Bless and keep on girl! 🙂

I agree that there are too many divides in the natural hair community. I think that it is fine to straighten your hair. It is still not being processed, therefore natural. I think coloring it is more of a gray area, since that is a chemical process. At the same time, I am transitioning my hair now and plan on dying it down the road once it’s at a fun length to do so. I’m sure I’ll consider myself natural, or at creamy-crack-free. LOL

That the joy of being natural flexibility. Roc it, straight, fro, twist & snap back waves…. There’s no rule in by book. My point is u can’t claim natural with the creamy crack or texturizers… But hey that’s my opinion right…. Lbs

I feel as long as you are relaxer, you are natural. Although chemical dyeing and heat straightening alters the texture, the fact that you are not overuseing those tools to dye or style then you are not compromising the health of your hair.

I’m transitioning and reading this in the salon, deep conditioning after my color. I debated how to color my hair for weeks. Then I remembered that one of the reasons for wanting to go natural is the ability to get color without all the damage of both chemicals. Though I think I may try a henna at some point, I agree that natural is relaxer/texturizer free.

    Hey Chelle,
Quick question did you find this product to be heavy on your hair or light. I wanted to try it but my hair is “fine” in texture so heavy products don’t work as well just wanted to get the scoop before I buy it.

I have been natural for 2 years and I just started pre-pooing with Coconut oil about 4 months ago. I see a definite improvement in my hair. Since I flat iron once a week, it is imperative that I pre poo to keep my hair in good condition.

I’m definitely going to try this. I have a question. I detangle with conditioner before I co-wash, can I or do I detangle while I pre-poo with the coconut oil leave it in for 30mins under the plastic shower cap and then begin my washing regimen?

I like to finger detangle once I wet my entire head (I wash in sections), I continue my finger detangle while I cleanse, then when I put my conditioner in I use my Denman brush to detangle, When I rinse out the conditioner I run my fingers through each section constantly and then I twist each section and pin it so my hair won’t tangle back up.

I am currently almost on jar #3. This is the best deep conditioner I have ever used. Before purchasing this deep conditioner, I purchased Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque and it left my hair feeling more or less “hard”. I had to add other products to get it soft and to reduce frizz. With the Silk elements deep nourishing conditioner, I apply it after shampooing. Either I sleep in it, wear it around the house all day, or sometimes I follow directions and wear it for about 5 minutes lol. Either way, my curls are defined, hydrated, and I can easily apply a leave-in and go on with my day. I am NEVER leaving this deep conditioner and I pray they don’t discontinue it. If only I could leave it in my hair, I would not be searching for a curl pudding/definer every week!

Hey hon!!! Well I thought the same thing because I want to color my hair sooo bad! I thought that the chemicals that will be used will make my hair not natural anymore but duh, your hair is still natural, just with some color!!! It may just loosen my curl pattern to make it easier for me to detangle which is fine with me! I’m tired of the same thing so I will be coloring, and POSSIBLY cutting (haven’t cleared that idea with myself yet!) my hair soon!!!

It’s interesting how divided the natural hair community can be. It’s only hair! Everyone’s ultimate goal should be healthy hair, whether it’s natural, relaxed, braided, weaved, etc. But to answer the original question, no I do not think dying natural hair makes it “less natural”. I would love to dye my natural hair, but I’m too indecisive on a color LOL!

    • Chelle

Not at all! IMO there is nothing sexier than a gorgeous auburn, warm caramel blonde, or a lovely chestnut brown on a natural chick!

Black women collectively are over critical of each other, we must put an end to it!

    I loveeeee colored natural hair!

    Great blog btw!

OMG your twist out is beautiful on here! Good to see that her products are available in other places because I was for sure upset when I couldn’t order from the site last week! I ended up stumbling upon a new line, Rockin’ Naturals and needed a butter replacement. I got their whip appeal buttercream hair frosting and the moisture is AMAZING. Now I prefer this over my aethiopike twist butter! http://www.rockinnatural.com/#!condition-me/c1yc2

great post. As a person with natural who is currently going through this I can say that heat damaged really SUCKS! And I swear my hair allergic to heat (if that’s even a thing) it doesn’t matter how much I try to protect it, it always ends up damaged. So no more heat for me!

I own a Huetiful hair steamer and I absolutely love it! When I originally purchased it (about two years ago), I only used it once every other blue moon, but as of last year, it has become apart of my weekly wash day routine. My hair is high in porosity, so I use it when deep conditioning to put the sucked out moisture back into my strands. Since I have color-treated hair, it’s necessary for me to put in 10x the work to ensure that my hair remains healthy.

  • Allison Jones
    September 30, 2015 at 2:32 pm

I get my hair steamed whenever I get a deep condition at the hair salon and I love the results! It has really helped me with keeping my tresses moisturized.

I do all that the only thing that I really do not have is patience am so impatient anytime I wash my hair or even do a twist out I love stretching my hair with my hand to see how long it is 🙁 and sometimes am like am I still in this length 🙁 anyway I started taking skin nails and vitamins for almost 3 Weeks now and drink lots of water but I just feel that it makes my hair thinker and my breakage is lesser sometimes I don’t even see any breakage but am so impatient with growth I just feel that my hair needs to grow to my butts overnight lol

Yes I have also experienced postpartum shedding. My daughter will be two in July. I had postpartum shedding when she was two months and ended when she was 7months old. I lost alot of hair. I had two bald patches to on both sides of my head. It was that bad! I was not natural at the time but that awful experience forced me to pay attention and take proper care of my hair. Thats when my natural hair journey began and I am enjoying every single day of it. After relaxing my hair for 20 years, now I’m learning how to treat and style my hair.

Omg!!I thought it was me just not taking care of my hair. My son will be 2 next month and Im dealing with the same issue. My hair was extremely dry and loss a lot of my volume. Im pregnant again so I hope after this one my hair wont be too bad. As for right now, I deep condition weekly concentrating on my ends and moisturize at least twice in a week. I did the bun look for awhile too but my hair continued to get extremly dry now I do twists updos so my hair cant get to detangled.

    • Michelle Thames
      March 31, 2016 at 8:59 am

Congrats! Yeah make sure to still take your prenatals. I think that’s where I messed up at. I took it for a while then switched to a multivitamin.

  • Gabrielle
    March 31, 2016 at 9:27 am

This is me too! My twins turned 2 November and I started noticing the difference in December and thought I was tripping but I really came to terms with it February! I know I take care of my hair and I thought it was the crochet but I always take a break between installs and take really good care of my hair! But yes it is thinner and my curl pattern is way looser but I am going to embrace this new head of hair and look at the up side. Like at least it doesn’t take as long to wash and style.

  • JaeJae
    March 31, 2016 at 6:12 pm

I think maybe you should have gradually stopped using the prenatals to help your body get use to the change. The reason I said that is that I was using steroids for my acne for over a year, then I went cold Turkey and stopped using it altogether. Bad mistake. My hair was shedding like crazy, my acne came back with a vengeance. Now, it’s been a year and my skin and hair started to normalize. My skin is almost clear and my roots are thick but my ends aren’t. I had to do a big chop leaving only 2 inches of hair. Moral, if the body gets accustomed to drugs being added, it goes into shock when the drug is abruptly removed. Something to keep in mind.

    March 31, 2016 at 9:19 pm

Aww so sorry to hear this! I can only imagine how hard that would be to already be dealing with so much post partem and have to deal with hair loss on top of it. The good thing is that even with the changes, your hair is still what most of us dream of <3

  • Christina J
    April 4, 2016 at 8:47 am

Absolutely! My son is two now, but I remember going through crazy shedding during post. My hair was thick with lots of volume pre, but after my hair was low dense and very fine. I had dry hair and breakage! I def had to relearn my hair and right now my hair is thriving and almost back to normal

  • Christina J
    April 4, 2016 at 1:05 pm

Awesome tips! I have kept a journal for 5 years (April 2011) and have updated it every 2 weeks, with a summary at the end of the year. I find that this helps me to know what products, styles, regimens are the best for my hair, so I won’t have to waste my time trying to figure out what I have already tried. I also keep pictures as well.

I do not have a child yet, but I a m always preparing for the future lol. I’m just wondering if continuing the pre-natal vitamins would help your stay in the state that it was pre-pregnancy?

Thank you for your honesty, and your hair is still GORGEOUS

    • Michelle Thames
      April 16, 2016 at 11:32 am

thanks love! You can continue to take them but its not best well after having your child considering they have more vitimans than you need. It does help your hair stay the way it was pre-pregnancy though. But after you should definitely switch to a women vitamin.

    April 10, 2016 at 1:42 pm

Thank you so much for this! My daughter is 2 1/2 and my hair has completely changed. I think the stress of a bad relationship, plus becoming a single mom really took a toll on my hair! It’s very brittle and much drier. All I used during pregnancy was rosewater and black castor oil. It was wonderful. Now nothing seems to work; I am having to relearn my hair and myself all over again

I stopped using chemicals in my hair over 5 years ago. However, I have just stopped using heat in my hair 5 months ago. I cut all of my hair off and am wearing a short afro. My concern is my hair has so much shrinkage. The more water and product I put in my hair the more it shrinks. I have said all of that to say, how can I attempt to retain my length?

    • Michelle Thames

I don’t think you had to stop taking your prenatals I’m not a doctor but I’ve been taking prenatals since I was 17 and I am now 25 because it’s the best multivitamin out there , it is prescribed though .

Thank you for this post, I have been juggling back and forth with the decision to get crochet braids. I am growing my hair back from a very short cut and my hair is in somewhat of a weird stage and crochet was suggested to me, but i need to see one of my fellow naturals working it. I have never had fake hair and was nervous as to what this will feel like. Will it be too heavy, will my scalp itch, and will it be hard to keep up. This post has really helped give me a better understanding of what to expect.

The best I have ever used is the GKhair deep conditioner hair mask. A complete damage reconstructor.

The amazing benefits of this very deep conditioner are:

    1. It strengthens the hair.
    2. It prevents and stops breakage.
    3. It softens hair.
    4. It allows hair retain moisture better.
    5. It coats the hair strands with an extra layer to protect them from harsh weather, the sun, heating appliances, etc
    6. It repairs damaged hair from the inside out.
    7. It makes the hair shiny.
    8. It conditions the hair.
    9. It tames frizz.

Not all deep conditioners are created equal. Deep conditioner hair mask definitely has an edge over the other conditioner for its unique proteins and tremendous results. 🙂 <3

Amen Sista! I have a 15 month old and an 8 year old. I had to go through it with my son and now I’m in the beginning stages with my daughter. If anything, we need support from other parents. Like they don’t know what it’s like. It’s hard dealing with tantrums in those types of situations. I feel ya and you handled it like a boss.

    • Michelle Thames
      November 16, 2016 at 7:54 pm

Thank you girl! I agree with you. If more parents would just support instead of stare! #likeaboss! I like that LOL! Thanks so much for reading!

    November 16, 2016 at 10:24 pm

Yes! My daughter is 6 now but I completely understand all of this. Children at that age do not comprehend a stern voice, a request, or reprimand. All they understand is holding them and comforting them on their level preferably eye-to-eye. You got this!

Great post sista! Frankly, if crying children bother you when you’re out to eat, refrain from family restaurants, because it’s bound to happen. Especially a place like Crackel Barrel with that store FULL of toys that children are most likely not going home with, a meltdown is seconds away from occurring. You have my full support with little Miss Riley because I already know the deal. Keep it up. You’re an awesome mommy!

Omg! I was in this situation this morning! (Not as a mom but as the lady at the next table ) the poor mom was so embarrassed and I just kept reading and looking up to smile ever so often. She apologized profusely and I finally said “Girl please, sometimes I wish I could just let loose like that , just one more time!” No staring. Just a gentle “we are human moment.”

    P.S. Your daughter is ADORABLE!

I had no idea that t here were pre shampoo hair treatments that could help with dry scalp! I also didn’t realize that apple cider vinegar is so good for your hair. I’ve heard that there are treatments that you can purchase that are even more effective than DIY products like apple cider vinegar, is that true?

I am a fan of the big chop. I’ve done it about five times since 2007, and while my hair grows really slow, there’s nothing like a fresh start and watching your growth. I have found that as long as I have regular moisture, my scalp and hair will be in agreement. That helped curb my product obsession early on. I personally avoid the YouTube posts like I avoid heat. Some of the videos are pipe dreams for my fine texture! Great post.

    • Michelle Thames
      January 6, 2017 at 8:47 am

Thanks for reading! I recently got a major haircut and you are right, there is nothing like a fresh start! And yes, I agree some of these videos are don’t give great advice lol! That’s why I am always very honest with my readers! Have a great day xo

I tried to go natural about 4 times before it finally was able to do it. Transitioning didn’t work for me cause I then had heat damage. I just had to big chop it and start over! Great tips. My daughter wants to do it now, but she is scared…

    January 7, 2017 at 2:03 pm

I love these tips…I have big chopped twice and I love the growing back phase! I would add to watching videos and reading blogs is understanding your journey is your journey and not getting caught up in how others hair look and wanting your hair to look a certain way. I got very caught up in what I wanted my hair to look like and not embracing my own path! It so much more beautiful when you embrace your own journey!!

When I went natural I didn’t do the big chop. I had to grow out my relaxer from a short cut. It didn’t even take long. and you’re right, you do need patience, especially when it comes to finding the right products for your hair.

How would you incorporate a hot oil treatment with a pre-poo? Do you apply both the pre-poo and the hot oil and sit under the steamer? Also, if doing a hot oil treatment, would you also still do a deep conditioner? Thanks!

    • Michelle Thames
      January 30, 2017 at 7:53 pm

No, I would do either or. I wouldn’t apply the hot oil or pre-poo with steam. Hot oil treatment is entirely different from a pre-treatment. You get the maximum benefit from a hot oil treatment when the hair and scalp are clean. So you should apply a hot oil treatment right after you shampoo and before you deep condition 🙂 hope this helps!

      • Lacey

Yes, it helps a lot. Thank you so much. I’ve been doing this wrong lol.

Is it beneficial to sit under a steamer with a pre-poo?

    • Michelle Thames
      January 30, 2017 at 7:48 pm

Hi! No I would sit under the steamer with your deep conditioner. The pre-poo is just your pre-shampoo treatment to help make your shampoo process easier.

I definitely need to set some goals for my hair this year! My main focus is getting more moisture into my hair. Because it’s colored, I have to put a lot more care into it. I’ll have to get my routine together in 2017!

I want enough hair to make a poof! 🙂 my hair seems to be growing painfully slow right now. It’s like it plateaued after my last big chop nearly three years ago. I was hoping to hit the goal by summer but that would take a miracle.

    Hey Michelle,
I actually purchased a salon one a few weeks ago. I have used it 3 times and like it a lot. I actually got to try it at Moknowshair in New York. She suggested I get one but I had always thought of purchasing one. I didn’t know that I should rinse hair after with cold water though, thanks. I appreciate your information.

Hey Michelle, your hair looks beautiful. Are the Jane carter products reasonably priced? I keep saying no no to new products but I still haven’t found anything that blows me away especially for wash and go’s. I had a set back were in December I had to cut at least 4 inches off. I really don’t want that again so I am making sure I handle my hair carefully. Btw, what’s that lipstick color? I love it on you.

I attended the auto show and I would suggest attending the gala that occurs the night before the show opens to the public! (First Look For Charity) It’s soooo much fun and benefits 18 different charities. Several news organizations are there that night. Plus it’s black tie and you get to get all dressed up, eat, drink, listen to music, and network around all the cars. So much fun seeing the auto show this way! 🙂

I’m resonating so much with this post, Michelle! I mean, I just got fired a week ago today and this is the best I’ve felt in a LONG time. I’ve had time to focus on my writing, business activities, being there for my family in ways that I wasn’t able to before. I just feel great and wonderful. I’m right there with you about mindset. My daughter doesn’t even know that mommy isn’t “working” anymore. I was a work at home mom, so now she sees me on my personal computer, still working and hasnt been none the wiser. I also never say I’m broke. I always say, “we’ll see” and make ever effort to make a way to get or do the things we really want to do instead of claiming that we can’t afford it. I grew up the same way, hearing the same thing and I don’t want to let my kids grow up hearing the same thing. And totally off topic…I just love your hair! 🙂

I have the same experience; except I am going through the natural transition now. But it is primarily due to me realizing how amazing natural hair can be and that I can take care of natural hair. That is all attributable to my daughter (4). I would not have considered going natural before simply out of fear of the unknown (there’s still a bit of that, but I’ll get over it). I totally agree with you on all the things you are doing to make sure your daughter accepts the beauty that comes with her natural hair. I’m right there with you.

I so wish my mother did this for me when I was growing up, I begged for a perm and she gave it to me at a young age. I started going natural at 16 because of my aunt! I love my mother’s hair she has dreads and I’m natural, and I hope one day I can be a role model like you are to your daughter.

    Riley is such a cutie!

Mini went through a phase of only wanting “flat” hair like Elsa and her friends. At first I was taken aback because her curls are so beautiful! What was big for us was making sure that she loved the way her hair was styled and and showing her beautiful women and kids embracing their natural hair! Now she runs around screaming “I LOVE MY NATURALLY CURLY HAIR!”–except when it’s time to comb it ha!

    • Michelle Thames
      March 9, 2017 at 5:44 pm

That Elsa is such an influence LOL! I’m so glad she loves her hair. I agree though, once we get that comb it’s a different story LMAO!

I remember my first relaxer was at 10, now am a full grown adult and i am back to being natural, i keep it short but natural and i love it even more than the perms. It’s great you have started teaching your daughter such and important value at her age, more moms(parents) should follow your steps and not just with hair.

You have so many gorgeous pictures with your daughters. As a mom to two daughters I definitely try to be honest with them as much as possible. I don’t want them to have a unrealistic view of adulthood. It looks like you are doing a great job with your daughter.

I love Riley! I think this is such an important post. Many of us got relaxers because curls werent in style and also there were no products on the market to keep up with natural hair. I went natural in 2005 not for style but for health. I know when I have kids I will not be putting any chemicals in my child (if I have a daughter) hair for health reasons alone. Also I am seeing so many moms follow suit like you to build hair confidence at a young and their hair will be longer and healthier without it being harmed by a relaxer. Great post Michelle!

My mom permed my hair at a young age, back in the day it wasn’t about natural hair! Now i think this generation is embracing natural hair. Glad you are teaching your daughter to embrace her hair, which will boost her self confidence and never feel less than because her hair may be different from others.

Great points. I’ve learned soooooo much in this year. I think turning 30 last year allowed me to pay attention to things more and be intentional rather than put things off or “not caring” like I was in my 20s. I’m also saying No a lot more too.

I don’t know what method I did the other day, but my hair finally feels moisturized. I cleansed the hair, added conditioner, then sealed with argan oil, then put on two different types of leave-ins and twisted my hair. When I unraveled, I used a little oil. I’m not sure what to call it, but it worked, lol.

I upgraded my daughter’s wardrobe in the spring with more Oshkosh of course! It’s her favorite store. We always get a new denim jacket, that’s a must have! Then, a cute pair of shoes or sandals plus a few dresses, tunics, capris, tees, and shorts. Every fashionista needs to have a few new pieces each season to make those outfits pop. I try to always wait for the best sales to try and get the most bang for my buck.

Yes. I believe in it all Michelle.💗 Your story is so beautiful & unique. This is one I can relate to as I am entering my last semester in undergrad. After graduating I do not want to go to school & I want to live my dreams of being a top beauty influencer, Working with Mielle Organics, being a published author and start my skin care line. In order to make any of this my reality I must apply the effort and dedicate my heart into it all. THIS is where the manifestation begins. I am so proud of you! You did just that yourself & look at where you are! It’s only up from here boo. I am rooting for you always – all ways.

I have been following you for quite sometime and I love your post, because I seem to always relate in a way. I lost my job back in 2015 and went into depression, still suffering some now. I currently do have a new job but it’s not my dream job. I am not happy at that job and the pay is just an insult honestly, but I have 2 kids to support and take care of so I have no choice. In August I went back to school to get a paralegal certificate (because I love anything dealing with law) so I’m praying and hoping soon I will land a job in someone’s law firm. I also want to start a blog about self-care tips (which I need to practice) and just everyday mom stuff, but I don’t know where to begin and now my 4 year old daughter wants to start a YouTube channel so I’m working on that. Thank you for this post I needed to read this. I need to start writing more in my journal as well about things I want for myself and kids. (Sorry for sharing to much)

Thank you so much for your support! I believe that you will have a major breakthrough in 2018. Keep putting out there what you want. Write it down and draw it to you. Talk about it. And yes START YOUR BLOG! Don’t wait, the time is now. You will keep talking about it and never do it. Just go for it. Start her a YouTube too!!! You didn’t share too much hun, this is what my platform is for, to connect with other women and empower them to be great. xoxo

This was awesome, Michelle! I’m so happy our paths crossed. The day I met you, I went back and forth with myself as to whether or not I would get out of the car to go into that blogging event. I didn’t want to feel out of place being there alone but I wanted to soak up any info I could about blogging. I’m so happy that I decide to enter the building and that I got a chance to meet you that day. I had been praying that God would send me someone who would be willing to answer my blogging questions and you were that answer to my prayers. You were so helpful to me that day and any time since then that I’ve reached out to you. I pray that the Lord will enlarge your territory this coming year and shower you with even more awesome opportunities. You’re a true blessing to those who come in contact with you!

    December 14, 2017 at 9:49 am

Yes I do believe in the power of manifesting and the laws of attraction. Often we are fearful and have anxiety about taking the next step or thinking outside the box. Everyday is a learning experience. We may not have all the answers but there are so many ways in which we can work to obtain them. You need to surround yourself with people that want similar things in life, attend meetups and groups that have the same goals, read books, watch videos, be a part of an accountability group and practice self proclamations. We must first see ourselves in the positions we want to be in. Say and think positivity toward those goals. Know that we may loose friends, love ones, etc in the process but that is just the way it is. Only you can live your life so why do it the way someone else wants you to do it. The new year is a perfect time to start but if you are ready now, then do it now. We often see people with all of this success and think it came to them easy. If you ever got a chance to speak to them you will find that their journey also came with trials and tribulation, more no’s than they can count, several failures, etc. But the one thing they did was never give up and found another way to make it happen. We are all guilty of giving up when it seems hard and unobtainable. So it’s so important for people like you to share your experience because you will definitely help the next person who feels like they are the only one going through it. Thank you so much for sharing and keeping it real when you could have just put on a façade that everything was perfect in your life. That is the real purpose of social media to share positivity and uplift one another. Many blessings to you and keep inspiring! …applemacg

Drink more water, that I should really be doing. I have such a hard time doing that. I remember my Mom using Olay products when I younger. It is crazy now that I am getting older and need to invest in it myself. These bags under my eyes aren’t going anywhere lol

    January 24, 2018 at 2:04 pm

I love Olay products. Over the summer I started adding essential oils to my lotion when I put it on and my body loves it! It even helped to clear up a patch of skin affected by my eczema. I totally agree that water is key too.

I feel you on these Chicago temps. It’s my first winter back in a few years and it’s killing me! Great tips. Of the 3, the only one I need to work on is exfoliating. I have been neglecting that part of skincare.

  • Nicole Brewer
    January 25, 2018 at 12:09 am

Yes, gut feelings are so important. Luckily I found an amazing place that I trust!

My 6 year old said she looks cute. I agree. We started daycare for our daughter when she was 3, and was able to tell us what was going on. I definitely felt the same way as you, but she needed to be around kids her age, and learn how to be in a school-like environment.

    • Michelle Thames
      February 11, 2018 at 7:51 pm

Aww! Tell her thank you! Yes, that was so important to me. For her to be able to clearly tell me what goes on at school. I feel relieved. My daughter is definitely miss talk a lot and will tell me ALL the TEA!

  • Jay Colby

You and your daughter are so stinking cute. Sending my kids to childcare was the best decision at that time. They learned so much educational-wise but the greatest lesson was the social aspect. They needed that.

    • Michelle Thames
      February 12, 2018 at 9:10 pm

Thank you Mimi!! Yes, I agree! She is learning so much and getting so much social interaction. She literally talks my head off about how much fun she has at school every day.

I balled my eyes out when I put my child in daycare but I’m glad I did. He is so smart. Huge vocabulary for a 2 year. He knows sign language. He knows how to interact with kids and adults.

    • Michelle Thames
      February 12, 2018 at 9:11 pm

Girl, it’s so hard but necessary! She learns so much and she loves it! It really helps them interact with other children and adults.

I don’t have children so I’m not sure that I can comment intelligently on this post, but I do agree with the above. I’m assuming that a nice, structured day based on routine, coupled with fun social interaction with other children of all walks of life could be nothing but good!

I am a product of child care and I appreciated having that time because I was my adoptive mom’s only child. I didn’t have any siblings growing up until I was about 10 (which is ironically enough right after I started staying home alone). I loved being around my peers.

I’ll admit I tend to be the one that tells people who don’t have kids, “Enjoy life and take your time!” Lol! Your normal just turns into a new normal with kids. You definitely have to work at not losing yourself individually or as a couple. There is so much joy in parenting but we all have our days that we feel we don’t know what we are doing. But just seeing those little faces light up and the unconditional love they have for you makes it all worth while..

  • April EdwardsMcGaskey
    February 26, 2018 at 9:04 pm

I take probiotics occasionally. I like yogurt and saurkraut ( just pass me yours. Lol!). I’ve known about them for some years now. I believe I notice a difference when I take them. When I receive samples of gummy ones for the kids they like them. Hubby has taken them also. It’s just another way to take care of your overall health.

This is a cool challenge! I have never heard of it and this doesn’t seem as bad and so forceful like other challenges. I was doing a once a week plant-based type of thing but then Christmas came and yeah……lol

We are doing no meat during the week.. we made through the first week. I’m cooking grilled chicken and collard greens tonight. It wasn’t that hard but it’s hard trying to find something that doesn’t have meat my hubby will eat.

This is a fascinating challenge, I’m sending you good vibes. I don’t have that type of discipline to try something like this. My goal is to consume more water and exercise.

I have never heard of this challenge but it looks like something I could possibly try. I did a Daniel fast one year and we couldn’t eat meat or sugar. Glad you were able to get the whole family on board because I know how difficult that could be.

This is such a fantastic idea! I’ve never heard of this type of challenge before but I like it. I really wish I could go 100% plant-based but I think I need to pace myself. This would be the perfect start.

      January 10, 2019 at 10:39 pm

Yes, pacing yourself is important. Lifestyle changes are one day at a time.

Nice! I have not been able to get vegan mac n cheese to look like that. All this food looks so good! I plan to go back to my vegan-ish diet sooner rather than later. I need the energy!

I honestly have never thought to read the labels on cleaning supplies but it make sense that they could have unhealthy chemicals. Glad you found products that can be used safely in the home. I like the deliver option they offer.

Im definitely intrigued by the idea of Grove and better cleaning products. I guess i’m reluctant to make a switch because i feel like the product sizes are too small. Im going to check this out though.

I have to be careful with most cleaning supplies because my little is asthmatic. I must try these, plus the packaging is simple yet chic.

I suck at reading labels, although I know the cleaner I used is not healthy and not the best option to use. Thanks for doing the research some of us are too lazy to do. I love the look of them, they feel healthy and mature in design.

I am so excited for you Michelle! I have seen you grow in so many ways over the years I have known you. You have what it takes and I know you are going to soar so high. Our generations just do it differently and the older generations just don’t understand how you do it without a steady job and paycheck. But the last decades have shown us that online businesses, social media and brand work have made a lot of people successful and fulfilled that they can work from anywhere. You are such an inspiration to us all and a lot of us are working on getting on your level. So keep sharing with us all the great news and projects. I love your honesty, perspective and when you share your sweet family with us. Can’t wait to see what your secret project is because I know it must be amazing. Many blessings to you and the family…. @applemacg
