Tips For Practicing Self-Care In Stressful Times

How are you practicing self-care during these stressful times? We are all in need of self-care during the current pandemic that has swept across our country and the world. The past month has been a whirlwind and a very stressful time for many. When stress strikes, self-care often takes a backseat. During stressful periods in our lives, we tend to focus outward and we ignore our needs and limits.⁣

The truth is during hectic or difficult times is when we need to care for ourselves the most. We need to get up and get our bodies moving, we need to get enough sleep, don’t skip meals, take a breather, and preserve our boundaries. (Super important)⁣.We need to tend to our needs and engage in the activities that nourish us.

Here are a few self-care tips to help during stressful times.⁣

1. Be real with yourself: what do you want to accomplish. How busy do you want to be? How much do you need to relax? Now is the time to really take a moment to

2. Prioritize: Engage in self-care activities that you enjoy the most. For me, this is meditation and reading and journaling.⁣ This will look different for each individual.

3. Check-in with yourself: listen to your body. Take a few moments to ask how do you really feel right now. Adjust as needed.⁣

4. Ask for help if you need it:⁣ I know I am guilty of taking on things and not asking for help when I need it. Now is the time to really ask for help if you need it.

5. Decide what matters most: Do you really need to finish that project right this second? If you do cool if not do it later. Assess what is most important during this stressful time. Some things can wait. ⁣

Remember that Self-care is super personal. The self-care activities that you choose to do will depend on your preferences. Someone may love spa treatments and others may love to workout. It looks different for everyone.⁣
