6 Benefits of Sending Your Child to Childcare

This post is Sponsored by KinderCare, as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

When you are a working mom, sending your child to childcare for the first time can be tough. I was home for eight months last year with Riley while I was laid off from my job. When I got my new job, I knew she would have to go to childcare. Before she was staying with my mom during the day, but my mom recently got a job during the day, so we had to look at other options.
Leaving your child for the first time in the hands of practical strangers can be very hard for any mom. From staying at home with my daughter to going back into the workforce, I felt every type of emotion. I went from staying at home to looking for childcare for my daughter in a matter of a week. Signing her up for childcare, going back to work, and adjusting to life as a working mom once again was and has been the most challenging time of my life.

In the beginning, I worried every day how she was. She cried nearly every day for five months when she first started childcare. I worried every single day if she was being treated fairly, getting enough attention, or the main fear if she was safe.

There are a ton of benefits of sending your children to childcare which outweigh the negative thoughts that many moms have when they first send their children to childcare.

Social Interaction

This was a huge benefit for my daughter. Since she was born, she was always looked after by my mother. She wasn’t surrounded by any children her age.

Creative Development

Creative play and activities play a very important role in child’s overall learning and development. It is a great time for children to enjoy expressing creative ideas and exploring through songs, dress-ups, art materials, language, and movement.

Independence

It’s true that 3- and 4-year-olds still need plenty of parental help, but they can do way more than we think. I love that my daughter is learning to become independent. I love how she is learning to solve simple problems on her own.

Interaction with other Adults

When children are very young, they only learn about other adults from parents and family members. Child Care helps to provide an opportunity for children to see and interact with other adults as mentors and authority figures.

Provides Structure

Schedules at child care are very helpful for your children. Having a schedule and activities for toddlers is a great way for their intellectual growth and development. The scheduled activities are also satisfying for us parents as well. I don’t worry about my daughter getting bored due to a lack of structured times for eating, playing and also napping.

Time with their peers

Childcare interaction is an extension of play dates. In the controlled environment of child care, your kids get to spend time around one another in a supervised, structured and safe environment. They also learn how to problem-solve, share and play and learn well together with other children. It helps their minds grow and their personality emerge.

This is why educational facilities like KinderCare are important and valued. KinderCare opened in 1969. Since then, the brand has been as consistent in aiming to help hard-working families in the workforce pursue their dreams and instill confidence in both children and parents alike.
Today, KinderCare has about 1,400 centers in 38 states! They aim to provide outstanding services, confidence, and comfort in families across the nation.

What sets KinderCare apart from other childcare facilities?

The environment they create for children, for families, and for employees. An environment that is:

  • Energized by the proven talent of the most dynamic teachers in the country
  • Responsive to the passionate, hard-working families eager to see their children flourish
  • Enriched by the most robust network of leading experts, partners, and advocates for children
  • Measurable in both the experiences we create and the outcomes we help children achieve

When I was selecting childcare for my daughter for the first time, I looked for values that aligned with mine. I wanted to feel confident that my child was in good hands. KinderCare is devoted to their children which gives parents peace of mind to pursue their dreams and to integrate work and life.

My 6 year old said she looks cute. I agree. We started daycare for our daughter when she was 3, and was able to tell us what was going on. I definitely felt the same way as you, but she needed to be around kids her age, and learn how to be in a school-like environment.

Aww! Tell her thank you! Yes, that was so important to me. For her to be able to clearly tell me what goes on at school. I feel relieved. My daughter is definitely miss talk a lot and will tell me ALL the TEA!

You and your daughter are so stinking cute. Sending my kids to childcare was the best decision at that time. They learned so much educational-wise but the greatest lesson was the social aspect. They needed that.

Thank you Mimi!! Yes, I agree! She is learning so much and getting so much social interaction. She literally talks my head off about how much fun she has at school every day.

I balled my eyes out when I put my child in daycare but I’m glad I did. He is so smart. Huge vocabulary for a 2 year. He knows sign language. He knows how to interact with kids and adults.

Girl, it’s so hard but necessary! She learns so much and she loves it! It really helps them interact with other children and adults.

I remember when I sent each of my kids off to childcare. I cried a little but they were happy and I soon realized how happy I was to be alone for a few hours.

Interesting post. My mother and I ran a daycare/preschool my whole life and I know it is very hard for both parents and children when they get dropped off, but it definitely gets better over time!

Your daughter is such a cutie. For me, the biggest thing about childcare is that it promotes social engagement and interaction with others in a controlled environment.

I don’t have children so I’m not sure that I can comment intelligently on this post, but I do agree with the above. I’m assuming that a nice, structured day based on routine, coupled with fun social interaction with other children of all walks of life could be nothing but good!

I am a product of child care and I appreciated having that time because I was my adoptive mom’s only child. I didn’t have any siblings growing up until I was about 10 (which is ironically enough right after I started staying home alone). I loved being around my peers.

Oh I’m so sorry that she cried everyday for 5 months, I’m glad that she is finally used to child care. I don’t have children but I think its very important to be around children there same age. You can tell the difference when children are only around adults.

Your daughter is seriously so cute! I would be worried sick if I knew she was crying like that. I’m glad that KinderCare has been a better option for her!

Thanks Chelsea! I was worried sick but I knew it was new to her so she just had to get used to it.
